Donald Trump has endorsed women's right to wear the veil, saying he would wear one if he were a woman.

Trump, the front-runner in the race for the Republican nomination for the presidency, was addressing a crowd in New Hampshire about the foreign policy of the United States. The businessman rejected the idea of the United States spreading freedom, using veiled women as an example.

"They want to. What the hell are we getting involved for?" Trump said. "You don’t have to put on make-up. ... Wouldn’t that be easier?"

The candidate then proceed to mime putting on a veil, while saying he would if he were a woman.

While Trump's respect for cultural differences is laudable, he has made it clear that while he doesn't support interfering internationally to "spread freedom," it's not for altruistic reasons: "I would knock the hell out of them, but I would put a ring around it and take the oil for our country. I would just take the oil."
