Crocodiles set to invade Dubai real soon

Dubai is set to open a crocodile park towards the end of 2016!

If you thought Dubai was done impressing you, you were wrong.

The emirate is set to open a crocodile park towards the end of 2016!

Dubai Municipality confirmed that 75 percent of the Crocodile Park has been completed so far. Construction on the $5.9 million project started last summer.

Located close to the Dubai Safari project, the park is set to cover 20,000 square meters. It aims to create a natural habitat for the aquatic reptiles.

The park will include various crocodiles including Nile crocodiles, which live mainly in bodies of fresh water throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. The park also aims to be an environmental reserve for the aquatic reptiles, providing optimal transportation and nutrition conditions, as well as contributing to the preservation of the species in line with the CITES convention to protect endangered animals.

But, considering the rate at which animals escape in the region, let's hope these crocodiles don't go loose!

Last July, videos of sheep running down the middle of Doha's Salwa Road began circulating. We've also seen tigers on the run ... so let's just hope these crocodiles are content with their new home.
