In our weekly installment of Clients from Hell, a hilarious collection of anonymously contributed client horror stories from designers, we present "Red and Blue Make Purple." For previous posts, click here.
I was tasked with creating a monochromatic blue poster design for a client. After several proofs, the following conversation happened:
Client: It’s not blue enough. It’s need to be a 22% crossfade between the first and fourth proofs. Also, it needs to be warmer. It’s too bleak. Too depressing .
Me: Blue is a cool color and is often associated with depressing moods. Especially deep, dark blues.
Client: Can’t you just add red to it to make it warmer?
Me: Sure, then it will be purple.
Client: No! It needs to be blue, damn it!
Me: I can’t mix red with blue and expect it to not be somewhat purple.
Client: Why don’t you just **** off?
