In a new study by Amnesty International, people from 27 countries across all continents were asked if they would welcome refugees into their country, neighborhoods and homes.

Turns out nearly half of the Chinese people said they would welcome refugees into their own home compared to only one percent of Russians

Russia has played a strategic role in the Syrian crisis ever since an official request was sent by the Syrian government to Russia in 2015 to support the fight against rebel groups. Considering Syria is Russia's closest Middle Eastern ally, it's no surprise to see that Russians would not want refugees taking a toll on their country.

Globally, 10 percent of respondents said they would accept refugees in their homes... making China's percentage all the more impressive

When asked whether the government should be doing more to help with the refugee crisis, China also topped the list with 86 percent in agreement!

The Spanish, Germans, Jordanians and Chinese are the most welcoming out of the 27 countries

Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey are among the countries that have a relatively high welcoming rate, with more than 60 percent of the respondents saying they'd welcome refugees with open arms in their country.
