Earlier this month, MENA Commerce, a Dubai-based retail startup, closed a round of funding from the Kuwaiti Arzan Venture Capital. It is the VC fund's third investment of the year.

Hot off winning the GCC Pitch Challenge, MENA Commerce confirmed that it had received an undisclosed amount of money from angel investors.

E-commerce is a hot trend in the region, as countries move to regulate the industry and businesses work to get online. MENA Commerce, whose flagship search engine is ShopShopMe.com, believes it is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this interest.

Aiming to be the "Google for retail," ShopShopMe.com offers online searches for both online and offline stores.

Founded in 2013 by Moustafa Mahmoud, a 31-year old Egyptian national based in Dubai since the early '90s, ShopShopMe will be launching its mobile site soon.
