The Bollywood film "Bangistan," starring Riteish Deshmukh, Pulkit Samrat and Jacqueline Fernandez, will not be released in the UAE after authorities told local distributors that it found it to be "hurting Muslim sentiments," Gulf News reported Wednesday.
"Bangistan," a parody, recounts the journey of two suicide bombers who, while on mission, decide it was ridiculous to die and kill other people. While the film was slated for a July 30 release release in the UAE, it has already been pushed back a week until a final decision was made.
Pakistan banned the film last month, even after the film's co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani attempted to clarify to the Pakistan High Commission that the film was a comedy and not "anti-Pakistan."
