Beirut finally has its own bike sharing station, and this is great news for all, not just bike enthusiasts.
The initiative launched by Jawad Sbeity, head of Beirut by Bike, and made possible by Judge Ziad Chebib, the governor of Beirut, and Jamal Itani, the head of the capital city's municipality, is up and ready, and everyone is excited about it.
According to Sbeity, this is just one of many to follow.
By the year 2020, 25 other stations will be all over Beirut, accumulating a total of 500 bikes to be shared.
Also, the project didn't place any burden on the municipality, Sbeity says in his Facebook post below. It was fully financed by the "Bike 4 all" company.
We're really excited about this bike initiative, and hope it is one of many baby steps that will help Beirut become a fully fledged bike-friendly city.
