With Ramadan barely over, next year's lineup of TV series has already started to come around. Egypt Independent teased that Bahaa Taher's novel "Wahet al-Ghoroub" (The Sunset Oasis) is currently being developed into a television show for Ramadan.

Taher is a renowned Egyptian author whose books have won him numerous awards, including the International Prize for Arab Fiction in 2008 for "The Sunset Oasis." He is the first author to have had received this award.

"Sunset Oasis" is set at the beginning of the British colonial rule in a far off Berber settlement called Siwa, known for its hostility against Egyptians. The book recounts the tale of a nationalist government official, Mahmoud Abdel Zaher, whose longing to topple the colonization forces him to suffer from an existential crisis.

Producer Gamal al-Adl announced that Mariam Naoum will be writing the script and Kamla Abu Zekry will act as director.

"No actors have been selected so far for the roles," he added.

It's still too soon to speculate which television channel will be airing the show.
