Authorities in Saudi Arabia's Al Taif shut down a female-only café because it was found to be serving shishas illegally, Ajel news site reported

This came after the governorate's municipality raided the café, which is located near Al Taif University.

During the raid, officers found tens of shishas and flavored tobacco packs all around the establishment and said it was serving clients, most of whom were university students.

In their statement on the matter, officials added that the reason behind the closure was the fact that the cafe didn't have a license to serve hookahs.

The news divided people on Twitter

News of the closure divided people on social media, with many claiming that the shut down occurred because the café was serving shishas to women and not because it didn't have the necessary permits to serve smokers.

Others attacked the café for serving shishas to women and launched a sexist tirade on those who choose to smoke them in public spaces.

However, they were perfectly shut down by Saudi women, who are becoming experts at hitting back when it comes to sexist shisha comments.

Some were all for the café's closure

"We call on authorities to fine and permanently shut down this place."

Others offensively attacked women who smoke shisha

"The epitome of filthiness, where's their femininity?"

Many were having none of that though

"You're not even leaving women's only spaces alone now! Why don't you exile us?"

And pointed out the irony in this...

"All men cafes are filled with shishas. Since when was it permissible for them and not for us!!!"

"It's every woman's personal freedom"

"Ya sater"

"Where's the problem in this?"

Some thought the closure was because the cafe violated laws...

"They didn't shut it down because it's a women's only cafe but maybe because it isn't licensed."

Others weren't buying that either

"Because it's women's only you label it as a law violator?"

"Where's the violation?"

"It's a women's only cafe, its workers are all female and smoking shisha is a personal freedom, what right did you have to shut them down?"
