To many across the Arab world, Ramadan is the most special month of the year.

Other than its spiritual and religious significance, it's also known as the time that brings the family together, reminding them of what truly matters.

With a little less than a month left before it begins on May 27, we asked people what they love most about the holy month and here are a few answers:

1. Family gatherings

Because there's nothing better than gathering around the iftar table with family, friends and neighbors.

2. Staying up late at night

Who doesn't love staying up late in Ramadan?

Probably, no one.

3. Iftar

The food during Ramadan is glorious.

Samboosa? Fatayer? Wara2 3enab? Some delicious kind of salad/soup? Yep, they're all on the menu.

4. Oriental sweets

Need we say more?

5. Lanterns and lights

This one's another loved Ramadan tradition.

During the holy month, beautiful lanterns and lights are set up on streets and neighborhoods all over the Arab world.

6. Spirituality

Spirituality and prayer are a pillar of Islam, practiced during every day of the year. But Ramadan is a special month when it comes to spirituality, because it's an opportunity to focus on the soul and the body.

The month is also a call to more prayer, unity and just bettering one's self.

7. Giving back

One of the things that people love most about the holy month is that it reminds us all to give back and think of those in need.

Throughout Ramadan people hold mawa2id al rahman (free Iftars), give out food and offer zakat (donations) to those in need.

8. Ramadan TV series

Love them or hate them, they're one of the most anticipated aspects of the month.

9. Su7oor and the Msa7arati

In many countries across the Arab world, a msa7arati (someone who wakes people up for su7oor) puts a smile on all our faces and reminds us of the good old days.

10. Vimto

Also known as the king of every Ramadan feast, no iftar table is complete without Vimto.

11. The TV ads

Even though they come flashing on our screens every 2-3 minutes, we can't help but love Ramadan ads because they're just too good.
