Sony has brought Arabic support to the online PlayStation Store, half a year after a firmware update brought support for the language to the console itself.
"We’re committed to providing the best experiences for our players on PlayStation and the addition of the Arabic language on PS Store now allows you to browse and shop in one of the most widely spoken languages on the planet," Sony said in a statement Tuesday.
"In order to access Arabic, you will need to have a PSN account associated with Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain or Lebanon."
The company also announced that it would begin accepting CashU – though only in Saudi Arabia. Considering that CashU is available across the region, hopefully the Saudi move is just a limited test before deciding to go regional. Considering the lack of online payment options available to many Middle Easterners, this could be a great move on Sony's part.
Hopefully more game producers and other consolemakers will follow Sony's lead in supporting the world's fifth most common language.
