A new independent feature film is looking to crowdfund its way through production.

The film titled " Colors of Water " will be directed by Raya Hamdan and Nabi A. Hamdan is a New York Film Academy graduate who has worked on Academy Award winning projects, and Nabi is a graduate of the International Film School of Paris.

The film examines many themes such as war, occupation, identity, gender roles and social norms. The story is told through one of the main characters, Ali. It is told through flashbacks on a boat on the World Water Parade – a surreal parade with a strange group of people and performers, highlighting the diversity of people in this dystopian world.

The other main character, Suleiman, is Ali's lover and companion on their journey of escape from Shila, a dystopian war-torn country that is an occupied fishermen's oasis governed by a fascist dictator.

The film needs $200,000 and the directors are hoping to get 25 percent of that from supporters through Indiegogo . The filmmakers are applying for the remaining amount of money from sponsors in Lebanon, Morocco, Jordan, Egypt and Turkey. The logos or names of sponsors will be put in the film credits and the filmmakers are open to product placement as well.

The film will face several challenges apart from funding, and is also looking for volunteers. Make sure to read more about it on the film's Indiegogo campaign page and support the movie.
