Iraqi actress Mariam Hussein sent social media into a complete meltdown after she allegedly shared a racy video on her Snapchat ... by mistake.
In the footage, which was deleted just seconds after it was posted on the platform, a woman appears to be masturbating.
Just minutes after it was deleted, thousands of people took to Twitter launching a now-viral hashtag attacking the actress and widely sharing the video which was uploaded from Snapchat.
While many harshly criticized Hussein, others had their doubts over the footage, especially because the actress isn't actually seen in it, as only a hand can be seen in the racy video.
*The video is circulating on social media, but we refrain from sharing it.
The footage sparked a social media meltdown of the sorts
Some were left completely shocked by it
Others thought it might all have been for self-promotion
"She's just trying to promote her Snapchat account."
Many had doubts over the entire thing though
"What proves that it's her? Most people follow these hashtags like sheep. Empty minds."
While others tried to prove Hussein actually posted the video
"OK, so if she posted this by mistake it means that it wasn't fabricated by anyone. Some are saying the footage is made up, others are saying she shared it by mistake. But look at the ring that appears in the footage, it's the same one she often wears."
A few were upset the video was being circulated
"It's clear that it was posted by mistake, proof of that is that she immediately deleted it. I am not defending her but it's not right to defame her on social media. Don't try to convince me that you've never made a mistake or committed a sin!"
The actress responds amid intense social media backlash
In several posts she shared on Snapchat in the wake of the incident, Hussein defended herself, saying someone had posted the footage using a fake account under her name.
In one of the posts she shared late on Wednesday, she wrote:
"I won't say anything, except that I leave this to God. Enough rumors, enough fabrications, I will seek justice in a court of law."
After she issued an explanation, many are now standing with her
"She turned our to be innocent, your attack on her is just unfair."
Because shaming women is just not acceptable
"Just leave her alone."
