An Egyptian lawyer has threatened to sue Spanish footballer Sergio Ramos for "intentionally" hurting Egyptian star Mohamed Salah during the 2018 Champions League final in Kiev.
The lawyer is asking for more than €1 billion ($1.15 billion) for the "physical and psychological harm that Ramos gave Salah and the Egyptian people."
"Ramos intentionally injured Mo Salah and should be punished for his actions," said Bassem Wahba, an Egyptian lawyer, according to The Independent.
Wahba has filed a lawsuit and complaint to FIFA.
Salah has been dubbed Egypt's "unofficial president" - after more than one million people voted for the footballer during the country's presidential elections in March, crossing out official candidates when casting their ballots.
"Don't give in yet ... sue Sergio Ramos"
The Egyptian lawyer has pledged to donate any money earned to the country's Long Live Egypt Fund, an initiative launched to support the country's economy.
Many social media users claim the lawyer is taking it a bit too far by pursuing legal action against Ramos. However, the world of petitions doesn't seem to think so.
Following Salah's heartbreaking injury on Saturday, an online petition demanding Ramos be punished by football authorities surfaced.
It has since amassed nearly half a million signatures at the time of writing.
Some think the lawyer needs to "RELAX"
Laughing emojis conquered
"What on Earth is going on?"
"I think Africa - as a whole - must sue Ramos"
"Guy took it personal"
"Arabs are so extra"
On Saturday, Salah - who scored 44 goals in all competitions for Liverpool F.C. this season - left the field injured during the first half of the Champions League final.
The 25-year-old striker suffered ligament damage in his shoulder following a controversial challenge involving Ramos, Real Madrid's captain and defender.
Ramos grabbed Salah's arm while both were fighting for the ball, forcing the Liverpool forward to leave 30 minutes into the game.
On Sunday, Salah said he expects to take part in the World Cup in Russia with the Egyptian national team.
