Ramadan doesn't just change eating habits in the Middle East – it also has a big effect on consumer behavior, according to a new survey from YouGov.

Of the 60 percent who say they spend more during the holy month, it's not surprising that 71 percent say that food is a top purchase. But 41 percent also report that clothing is a top purchase.

While iftars receive the majority of the attention, 81 percent of respondents said that suhoor was important to making it through Ramadan, with fruit the most popular suhoor meal.
