All us cinephiles eagerly await the Oscars and make it a point to list the nominated movies we might have missed so we can hunt them down on Blu-ray. And yet for some reason, not many of us pay attention to the shorts. It's as if shorts get shortchanged. Especially the animated shorts.

At the 86th Academy Awards, Mr Hublot, the result of 3 years of hard work on a teeny tiny budget won. And it's definitely worth watching. See what Alexandre Espigares, the co-director of Mr Hublot has to say:

So, what's the story? Well, " Mr Hublot lives in an absurd world, where characters come together, patched-up, stitched-up, with mechanical parts, driving enormous vehicles, a world where the giant scale of machines and the determination towards recycling reign supreme. It is a postindustrial environment where nature has totally disappeared and so have most of 'human' feelings." And then something changes Mr Hublot's life.

Mr. Hublot has gone on to win several awards at other competitions.
