This week, a member of the Egyptian football team came under fire after an Instagram model accused him of sexual harassment.
It all started when Instagrammer >Merhan Keller shared several screenshots of conversations with Amr Warda, a 25-year-old Egyptian footballer, in which his vile language is as clear as day. The sexual advances, the pushy language, and the aggressive responses are but a few of the revolting attributes of the texts Warda sent Keller.
In one screenshot, the Dubai-based Egyptian model exposes Warda's failed attempt to pressure her - and apparently countless other women - into seeing him by claiming he's in a particular country for just one day.
"Basically he tells every girl this same shit"
Rejection turns into aggression
Turns out, Warda - just like many >Arab men - suffers from fragile masculinity, which means his ego bruises so easily after a simple NO. He refuses to accept that someone could/would reject *him* - a famed footballer - so he copes with the pain with aggressive behavior and language.
Keller had shared a voice note sent by Warda via her Instagram Story earlier this week. Luckily, one Twitter user, @>cryindivaa, has been saving the model's screenshots and videos and posting them on Twitter.
Following the accusations, the model got called out by people who fail to acknowledge what sexual harassment entails. These very same people began claiming the model's posts were "fake." Keller refused to let those claims take over, so she shared a screenshot of Warda's WhatsApp Profile to prove that the footballer had been contacting her from Greece. (P.S. the country's area code is +30.)
The footballer plays for the Atromitos F.C., a football club based in Athens.
Several other women began speaking out against Warda, accusing him of similar actions. Twitter user @cryindivaa has been sharing more than just Keller's story in a lengthy thread on the micro-blogging platform.
Many women have been sending their personal encounters with Warda to the user. In the one below, notice that the WhatsApp number looks similar to the one Keller shared above.
Apparently, Warda uses the *block* button pretty much every time he gets a response he doesn't like. Again, fragile masculinity is to blame. Aside from blocking women, he calls them names (stupid is just one example) when they refuse to see him, send him "videos" or "answer his calls."
"Don't worry I block you [sic]"
Warda asked one woman if she's a virgin?!?!
Vile emojis and language
Another Twitter user shared screenshots of her encounter
And then shared this video to further call Warda out
Some are demanding action be taken
Following the ongoing scandal, Warda has shut down his Instagram account, where he formally had 2 million followers.
The Egyptian football team has taken action against the player since, according to The New Arab. The Egyptian Football Association said Warda will be excluded from Egypt's remaining matches at the African Cup of Nations to "ensure discipline and focus" within the team.*
This wouldn't be the first time Warda faces such accusations.
In 2017, he was reportedly kicked off the Greek team PAOK over accusations that claimed the footballer sexually harassed the wives of his teammates.
