As the shock of Friday's terror attack in Paris wears off and the amazing solidarity turns to finger-pointing, once again Muslims around the world find their religion being accused of supporting such evilness.
For the vast majority of the world's 1.6 billion Muslims, the extremism represented by groups such as ISIS is as horrifying as it is for the rest of the world. Most of the victims of ISIS have been Muslim – thousands upon thousands in Syria and Iraq – and the group's rise has displaced millions of Syrians, who are searching for refuge in a Europe that is increasingly blaming them for the violence that they are themselves fleeing.
But the facts matter little for many non-Muslims, whose only exposure to Islam is the media's coverage of extremists. This leads to the common question after every major terror attack: If Islam is a religion of peace, then why aren't Muslims condemning the violence?
It's pretty simple, they are. The media just finds their messages of reason and compassion less newsworthy than the violence of ISIS.

From the leaders of Muslim countries
To religious figures
"What happened in Paris isn't accepted by religion or logic"
But it's not just public figures, people from around the Arab World are speaking out
"The prophet was with the Jews in Al Madina and he didn't kill them or fight with them, and his neighbour was a Jew and he didn't kill him, what Islam do you know about? #isis_claims_paris_attack"
"Islam is a religion of simplicity, you complicated it until some took another path under its name, but their path is "terrorism" #paris_bombing"
"I'm only upset for the innocent. But we, as real Muslims following true Islam, don't need to apologise or excuse ourselves or feel embarrassed, this is terrorism not Islam. #paris_bombings"
Turkey
"I condemn the terrorist attack that occurred in France and offer my sincere condolences to my counterpart François Hollande et to the French people."
Even Iran, which has horrible relations with the West
The rest of Asia is home to hundreds of millions of Muslims, who also condemn violence
And millions of Muslims also live in the West, including nearly 5 million in France
"I am French. I am a citizen. I am a Muslim. Fear makes us say things we don't actually think. Don't let the terrorists destroy what we built."
"I am Muslim, I am French and I am a Parisian, and before everything against terrorism."
And more than 40 million across Europe
