The world responded with shock, disbelief, and anger as a >White Supremacist rally in Virginia, U.S., took a violent turn over the weekend.
One of those who responded is none other than British-Pakistani Muslim comedian and actor, Riz Ahmed.
The >outspoken actor's poignant response came on Monday night's episode of The Tonight Show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, when Fallon asked Ahmed "If he had anything to say about the incident, which included bloody clashes between white supremacists and counter-protestors as well as the murder of a woman by a Nazi sympathizer who drove his car into a crowd of anti-white supremacist marchers, Ahmed reached back to a rhyme he wrote more than a decade ago."
Noting that the cappella he was about to perform was written 10 years ago. Ahmed said: "Every year I keep hoping it will become irrelevant, but it keeps becoming more and more relevant sadly."
"In light of all the current events that are going on, it just seems like we're living in really, really divided times, and it really hurts," he added.
The performance saw Ahmed change up the lyrics to his original piece to include a direct reference to U.S. President, Donald Trump.
A video of it, which was posted to Facebook soon after the show aired on Monday, went viral and has since garnered over 2.8 million views.
