If you thought Dubai is done celebrating the marriage of its ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's sons, we've got news for you.
Sheikh Hamdan (Dubai's Crown Prince), Sheikh Maktoum (Deputy Ruler of Dubai), and Sheikh Ahmad (Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation) officially >signed their marriage certificates to their now-wives back in May, and went on to >celebrate their unions in a joint ceremony earlier this month.
More festivities followed this past weekend, as the couples hosted yet another reception, exclusive to female guests, on June 14.
Dubbed the emirate's "happiest event of the century," Dubai's royal wedding saw three sons of Sheikh Mohammed, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Dubai's Ruler, wed women from Al Maktoum royal family. Sheikh Hamdan got married to Sheikha Sheikha bint Saeed bin Thani Al Maktoum, Sheikh Maktoum to Sheikha Mariam bint Butti Al Maktoum, and Sheikh Ahmad to Sheikha Midya bint Damlouj Al Maktoum.
In accordance with Islamic traditions that encourage gender segregation, men and women celebrated the unions in separate events. Male guests, including the UAE's leading figures, along with many dignitaries and prominent businessmen, were >invited to a luxurious banquet on June 6.
As for the women, they celebrated on Friday at the exhibition ground of Al Maktoum International airport in South Dubai, according to photos of the invitation cards shared by news outlet Arabian Royal Agency.
Footage of the star-studded event has not been shared publicly, nor have photos of the brides.
According to Vogue Arabia, Saudi television presenter and social media personality Lojain Omran took on the role of the MC (host) while donning several dresses by Lebanese designer Charbel Karam. Emirati singer Ahlam Al Shamsi performed at the event, also rocking a Lebanese label: Zuhair Murad. The superstar took to Instagram to congratulate the couples, writing, "I am honored to be the Arab artist asked to perform at this huge ceremony. I consider it a badge of honor."
Guests were also entertained by Iraqi singer Majid Al Muhandis, who recently released a song titled "Ahla Albashayer" (The Best News) in honor of the royal wedding, according to Emirates Woman.
According to >Khaleej Times, another women's reception had been held earlier this month. Hosted at a "large hall sporting an enchanted forest theme" in Nad Al Sheba area, the women's get-together was organized by event planner and celebrity contractor Rashid Al Saeed and saw model and singer Mirna Tahan entertain guests.
So, does this mean the Dubai royal wedding festivities have come to a close? It appears so, but we wouldn't mind being proven wrong.
