To mark a beautifully designed launch date for Expo 2020 Dubai, the six-month event will open its doors to the world on Oct. 20 next year (20/10/2020).
The remarkable World Expo, which takes place every five years in a selected city, will soon be held in Dubai, UAE. By choosing the most technologically advanced and innovation-oriented city in the region, the months-long exhibition will finally land in the Arab world for the first time since its launch in 1851.
To kick things off to an amazing start, Expo 2020 has recently invited all UAE residents to get a free sneak peek of its construction site. Beginning July 20 and ending Aug. 31 of this year, everyone in the UAE is welcome to join "The World's Greatest Show in the Making" bus tour.
Though the organizers announced all tickets have been sold out already, they guaranteed they're "busy working to add more seats."
"This is just one in a series of opportunities for everyone in the UAE to be part of the Expo story, so stay tuned for details of more upcoming events and activities," a note in bold on the website reads.
Those interested - for the next batch of tickets - must check the online schedule and secure a seat on the Expo's website. Buses will be waiting for guests at specific pickup locations across the UAE. The tours begin at 2:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10 a.m. on Saturdays.
For the lucky ones who already purchased tickets, they will be given a rundown of the history of World Expos for entertainment and educational purposes on their way to the site.
Upon their arrival, they will get the chance to explore the Expo 2020 Visitor Center, followed by a full bus tour of the up-and-coming 4.38 km² site.
"This is an unprecedented opportunity for people in the UAE to come with their friends and families and take an early look at our own incredible structures that will soon be known far and wide – such as Al Wasl Plaza, the site's beating heart, the falcon-inspired UAE Pavilion and the Sustainability Pavilion, which pushes the boundaries of eco-conscious design," said Chief Community Engagement Officer of Dubai Expo 2020, Manal AlBayat, according to The National.
The three main themes of Expo 2020 are Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability - each having its own personal pavilion for visitors to thoroughly explore the ins and outs of these themes.
The event will include 192 different country pavilions, 60 different live shows daily, 200+ restaurants, and 15+ hours of pure entertainment everyday for 173 days.
Ticket sales for Expo 2020 will begin in April next year. The prices ensure all those interested in attending can afford to pay.
The history of World Expo is interesting to a point it single-handedly changed history as we know it.
"World Expos are famous for their groundbreaking architecture, from the Eiffel Tower in 1889 to the Space Needle in 1962," AlBayat said.
In 1885, the washing machine and lawnmower were first introduced in Paris at one of the World Expos (and these are only a few examples).
