If you're a government employee in the UAE, get ready for a long weekend, as you'll be getting a 7 day holiday for Eid Al Fitr this year!

*After a UAE cabinet meeting, Eid holidays for the Federal Government were decided upon, whereby a week long holiday will be granted starting from Sunday 3 July. Happy holidays*

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid confirmed during a meeting that state businesses will be closed starting July 3 with work resuming on July 10.

Considering there's a normal weekend prior to the official holiday, that means nine days off in a row!

Makes you want to take advantage and travel to escape the heat right?

While dates for the private sector have yet to be announced, it is most likely employees will be getting two days off.

While most of us are ecstatic and maybe jealous of those getting such a long holiday, some have criticized the long weekend because all this means is a slump in productivity for the country.
