Held every January in the Las Vegas in the United States, CES is the biggest consumer electronics and consumer technology trade show in the world with more than 170,000 attendees. Although this year's CES featured a lot of start ups and innovation, conspicuously missing where some of the world's top tech companies, including Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Apple.

But, according to the New York Times, this year was, overall, a great show. They summarized the event, saying:

It made for an exciting show, to be sure. There was an energy in the air in Las Vegas that had been lacking in previous years, helped by an influx of interesting start-ups, good conversations about a variety of technology and yes, even some really impressive TVs. It wasn’t, thank goodness, the same old thing.

We weren't lucky enough to attend, but here are the three coolest things that had all the techies raving at CES this year.

1. 3D Printed Pizza

XYZPrinting, a 3D printing company, printed edible food, from butter cookies to real, live actual pizza. Although all of these creations were uncooked, these two intrepid reporters said that the outcome was fairly delicious. XYZ's printer is coming out on the market later this year for less than $2,000.

Seems like a step up from this 3D chocolate printer, no?

2. Drone Rodeo

There is not much to say about how cool this is, except to watch the video.

3. BMW Laser "Smart Headlights"

With M4 Concept Iconic Lights, BMW showed the future of automotive headlights. These laser headlights can change their direction based on curvature of the road using GPS-technology, as well as sense when other cars are coming so as to mask themselves from oncoming traffic. In addition to using a fraction of the electricity of modern headlights, the lasers do not harm pedestrians as their light is reflected through filters .
