It's only been six months since 13-year-old Jean fled the terrors of the Syrian war with his family and moved to the Netherlands, yet he is already on his way to stardom.

His family lives in a temporary refugee center in Dordrecht, but that has not stopped him from applying to the music talent show The Voice Kids.

In his first performance on stage, Jean blew the judges away and got all three of them fighting to get him on their teams.

With a spot-on rendition of Rihanna's "Diamonds" during the blind auditions, Jean wowed the judges and got them all to turn their chairs for him. The judging panel consists of Dutch singers Marco Borsato and Ilse de Lange, along with the Dutch rapper Ali Bouali, who is of Moroccan descent.

Bouali turned first, and the two other judges soon followed.

"My dream has come true," said Jean

"It's magic that three chairs turned around for your voice," one of the judges told Jean after his performance. The latter responded with, "Yes, my dream has come true."

He explained that he had come to the Netherlands six months ago to "make a new life" and currently lives in a refugee center with his sister, mother and grandmother.

While talking to the judges, he took the opportunity to thank the refugee center's staff for looking after his family.

Finally, Jean chose to join Borsato's team, as the singer has been one of the most successful artists in the Netherlands for the past two decades.

It's safe to say that Jean stole the show

"So much emotion in his voice"

That performance was definitely a tear-jerker

"When I saw you on stage yesterday, I felt extremely proud to be Syrian"

We wish Jean all the best in future performances!

Disclaimer: Since his story went viral, Jean's background has been subject to scrutiny. He did not mention his last name during his performance. Some media outlets, including Al-Arabiya, have referred to him as Jean Khalifa. Meanwhile, others claim that he is of Armenian descent and call him Jean Gharibian.
