In just five hours, a Lebanese startup hit its crowdfunding goal of $20,000. The great idea that has everyone so stoked? Sandals.

Maku, a company that designs the most comfortable sandals in the world, launched its crowdfunding Kickstarter campaign on Sept. 14 and in less than 24 hours they have managed to raise 225% of the initial goal of $20,000.

Founded by William Choukeir, David Al Achkar and Hanane Kai, the startup has been in the making for more than 5 years. After 37 iterations, the team finally designed these everyday sandals that aim to be your go-to footwear when you're going on an arduous walk...like a hike. Imagine hiking in sandals?

"Our passion led us on a quest to track down some of the best materials and manufacturers in the world. We accepted nothing less than unmatched comfort, exceptional durability, and real versatility. Out of this (somewhat obsessive) journey was born the Maku sandals you see today," the team wrote on their crowdfunding page .

The sandals are made with straps made from a boating fiber that resists saltwater, sun, abrasion...all the while being softer than cotton.

The startup not only brings perfected comfort, but does so by embracing the green initiative at its core. The materials used to make the sandals are some of the best in the world "designed to last for years."

The startup now ships worldwide and offers FREE shipping within the US.

People are loving the sandals already!
