Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah joined the Liverpool football club in the summer and he's been on fire ever since.

Liverpool paid a club-record £39 million ($51.9 million) to Roma for the player - a decision questioned by critics, especially after his poor spell at Chelsea.

But the 25-year-old winger has been a total nightmare for opposing defenders and continues to prove that his recruitment was an absolute bargain.

This season’s race for the Premier League Golden Boot is underway with the usual contenders - such as Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero - surging into an early lead. However, new names have been added into the mix this season. Most notably, Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Salah led Liverpool to secure an easy 3-0 win over Southampton in the 12th round of the Premier League by scoring twice and earning his spot on top of the Premier League scorers' list with nine goals in his first 12 Premiership games.

Salah also broke Liverpool's record

Mohamed Salah became the first Liverpool player to score nine goals in his opening 12 league games, breaking the record of eight set by Liverpool legend striker Robbie Fowler in 1993.

Mohamed Salah also sent Egypt to the World Cup for the first time in 27 years

The attacking midfielder's late penalty against Congo during the qualifying games put Egypt on course for its first World Cup game since 1990, sparking wild celebrations all over Egypt and the Arab world. Even the TV commentator cried when Salah scored and secured a late 2-1 win.
