In a video that has now gone viral, one of Denmark’s first female Muslim politicians, Özlem Cekic, confronts a man who sent her hate mail and trolled her for being Muslim.
Posted to the BBC's official Facebook page, the video has garnered over 2.6 million views since it was published on Saturday.
In it, Cekik is seen having a face-to-face conversation with the man, trying to understand why he launched his racist rant.
"The problem is that the distance between us grows because everyone points out the differences. But there are also similarities that tie us together," she told him.
"How can we sit here one meter apart and still be so far apart from each other?", she asked.
According to the BBC, this isn't the first confrontation Cekik has had with an online troll.
The MP often receives hate mail and instead of ignoring it, she chooses to open up a dialogue with senders because she "believes face-to-face dialogue can help break down prejudice."
"In the past few years she has invited hundreds of people, who have sent her abusive messages, to sit down for a coffee and a chat," the BBC wrote.
Thousands react on social media
Soon after the video went viral, thousands of people took to social media platforms sharing their views on it.
