>Expensive Arab cities exist, there's no denying that. But, what if we told you some already expensive cities became just a tiny (a lot) pricier?
Well, it's the unfortunate truth. In a recently released report titled ">The Worldwide Cost of Living 2019" by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), several Arab cities witnessed inflation in the past 12 months, leading to a spike in the city's prices of consumer goods and services.
Four Arab cities made it to the report's "biggest movers up in the ranking in the past 12 months." These include Casablanca, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh.
Casablanca, Morocco
Residents in the North African city have been hit pretty hard in the past 12 months. Casablanca moved up 20 places in the ranking, becoming the 92nd most expensive city in the world.
Muscat, Oman
Muscat moved 15 spots in the ranking, becoming the 92nd most expensive city in the world, tying with the city of Casablanca.
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Abu Dhabi moved 13 spots in the ranking, becoming the 49th most expensive city in the world.
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Riyadh moved up 12 spots in the ranking, becoming the 105th most expensive country in the world.
Most expensive cities in the world
According to the report, Singapore, Paris, and Hong Kong shared the title of the world's most expensive cities; all three ranked No.1 on the list.
The report is based on an annual survey which evaluates the cost of over 150 items in 133 cities around the world.
