In the Muslim world, polygamy is still an> issue up for debate, as some people tend to forget that there are a set of tight conditions that must be met for it to be "legal".
Polygamy for Muslim men is permissible only "if" the man can do all wives justice by treating them equally. But, that's not the rhetoric being spread by Muslim Twitter user @thepakwolf who came up with his own theory with regards to polygamy.
His theory states that there is one heart chamber for each wife. Thus, he believes that since the heart has four chambers, men can marry four different women at the same time.
Just for some religious background information, Islam first allowed polygamy for the sake of widows and orphans who had no means of survival.
The only Quranic verse that speaks about polygamy is believed to have been revealed after the Battle of Uhud, which led to the death of many Muslim men who left behind families in need of support. The Quran clearly states that a man can only marry more than one woman if he treats her and all his other wives "equally."
"But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one," Surat An-Nisaa states. The surah then declares: "You will never be able to be equal between wives, even if you should strive to do so." This makes Islam-approved polygamy near impossible to attain, even when conditions for it apply.
The Twitter user attempted to theorize polygamy in Islam via a biological explanation. Neither the religious nor biological justifications proposed by the user ring logic. So, it's only expected that commentary in the form of mockery came forth on Twitter.
