Imagine a roving band of creative strategists – a week in Spain, 3 days in Tokyo, 48 hours in LA. With no defined titles, these nomads deftly switch between left and right brain while being led only by the call of their next brief – wherever it may be. The only constant: delivering top strategies and concepts within 48 hours.

Sound exciting? Meet The Pop Up Agency, the brainchild of a group of former Hyper Island students Abraham Abbi Asefaw, Alejandro Masferrer, Julia Schierbeck, Maksimilian Kallhed, Wout Arets and Zlatko Corluka.

Having lived the inefficiencies and legacy agency models first-hand at various agencies around the globe, The Pop Up Agency is their proposed solution.

Their creative process is unique. It favors doodling on post-it notes and playing small games to unlock insights and ideas. They’re decidedly analogue in their approach – and it’s working.

After a world wind initial tour that took the group from Singapore and Shanghai to Hong Kong to Tokyo, then to Los Angeles and New York City, which saw them working with brands like Coca-Cola and Facebook as well as agencies like TBWA, the team has now set up a permanent residence in London.

Where will they pop up next? They’re headed to Spain and Croatia in early spring, but more importantly – when are we going to see them in MENA? We hope soon.

The Pop Up Agency recently launched a documentary, which covers their kickoff tour – it’s worth the watch:
