Over the past two months, people in Lebanon have been through a whirlwind of emotions in response to the ongoing >revolution. We've experienced rage, despair, and a whole lot of confusion; but it hasn't been all somber.
Every once in a while, we experience an adrenaline rush while partaking in revolutionary events and sense some pride in the >milestones achieved thus far. And when all else fails, the limitless supply of >humorous online content is bound to give our serotonin levels a much-needed boost.
Despite the tense political climate, us Lebanese have kept our humor intact and risen above the hardships with an impeccable sense of satire — one might say it's one of our many> national superpowers. The interwebs have been flooded with jokes and memes that add a funny twist to the national turmoil and lighten up our distressing timelines.
Among the revolution's many humorous offerings is the Twitter account dedicated to the Lebanese pound (lira).
Recent events, coupled with previous economic and political shortcomings, have taken their toll on the value of the national currency. One Twitter user decided to tackle the country's collapsing economy with humor through an account simply titled "Lebanese Lira."
The account tweets in the first person, giving birth to a virtual mouthpiece for the lira. She is a sassy, moody> attention-seeker who makes pop culture references like a pro.
