The phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" serves to prove that beauty really is relative. But, one cosmetic surgeon begs to differ.
Supermodel Bella Hadid has been declared the most beautiful woman in the world, according to "science" into what makes a face ... so perfect. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Julian De Silva made the revelation based on the "science" of the Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi, which defines beauty in accordance with classic Greek calculations, according to The Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old old received a score of 94.35 percent, of which 100 is the perfect score for beauty. Physical features that were used to calculate her score include her eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips, chin, jaw and facial shape. Her attributes came closest to the ancient Greek's notion of perfection.
"Bella Hadid was the clear winner when all elements of the face were measured for physical perfection. She had the highest overall reading for her chin which, with a score of 99.7 percent, is only 0.3 percent away from being the perfect shape, "Dr Julian >told The Daily Mail.
Following Hadid, singer Beyoncé came in second with a score of 92.44 percent and actress Amber Heard came in third with a score of 91.85 percent.
The "golden ratio" was used by artists and architects during the European Renaissance to guide the execution of their masterpieces. It's now been reportedly adapted to measure beauty — as if society hasn't perpetuated the notions of standardized beauty enough.
Journalist Palki Sharma called the recent revelation an "ugly reminder of how beauty standards continue to be imposed on women. Perfection is a myth," she writes.
