The smartphone wars might be ongoing, but United Arab Emirates residents should be pleased to hear that they made the cut of 20 countries where the latest Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will be available on April 10.
Although pre-orders have been unofficially available, customers can now officially order the new phones at retail stores and operators across the UAE. These official pre-orders are at least Dh900 ($245) less than the unofficial price. It is also expected that carriers Etisalat and Du will offer the phones - as part of the post-paid plans - for free.Pre-ordered Samsung Galaxys have been breaking records worldwide, with an unidentified "top executive" telling The Korea Times, that as many as 20 million pre-orders have been received by the Korean company. According to a report released by the Emirates' Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), Samsung devices account for five of the top 10 most popular smartphones in the UAE. However, Apple remains popular, with Apple’s iPhone 5s and iPhone 5 topping the list, along with Samsung S III.
The S6 is expected to priced between Dh2,700 ($735) and Dh2,800 ($762) while the S6 Edge will range between Dh3,000 ($816) and Dh3,200 ($871).
In addition to retail stores, pre-orders can be placed beginning tomorrow at the Samsung stand at Abu Dhabi Electronics Shopper.
Since we are still waiting on confirmation of the rumored three Apple stores (!) that will open in UAE, this might make StepFeed officially in the Samsung camp. We love any electronic brand that loves MENA back.
If you're not convinced, check out Samsung's advertisement below. We think next might just be now. At least for the UAE.
