Fans are cheering after Saad Lamjarred's recent release from a jail in France.
The Moroccan singer, who is accused of >raping and beating a French woman in Paris last October, will still face trial. He has been released on bail with an electronic tether that constantly alerts police of his movements, until the trial takes places.
Lamjarred is not allowed to leave France and must remain at his residence between certain fixed hours established by the judge, according to Al Arabiya. But that hasn't stopped the alleged rapist from dancing in the streets of Paris.
A video of the singer dancing happily after he was released has garnered a lot of attention on social media.
Shortly after Lamjarred's release, he posted a status to social media, thanking his fans for their support and expressing love for his family.
"Thank God for everything. I cannot describe how happy I am to be back with my father, mother, family, friends and precious and loyal fans that stood with me all the way. Forgive me for what I’ve put you through. I thank my fellow artists who lived every painful moment with my parents. My motto is as always, God, the homeland and the king," Lamjarred wrote in Arabic on Facebook.
This is not the first time Lamjarred is accused of rape
While Lamjarred's fans and friends seem convinced that he did nothing wrong, this isn't the first time he has been accused of rape.
In 2016, an American woman accused Lamjarred of physically and sexually assaulting her in Brooklyn in 2010. The singer allegedly fled the U.S. after posting bail, having been arrested and indicted.
According to The National, Lamjarred denied all accusations and pinned them on being “blessed with fame”.
Despite the two accusations, even Morocco's King Mohammed VI >threw his support behind the pop star, hiring a top-notch lawyer to represent him in court.
"This is a favorable response to a request from the family of the singer who sought his majesty's intervention, and with respect for the presumption of innocence," the Moroccan embassy in Paris said at the time.
And fans don't seem concerned that their favorite singer is allegedly a rapist ...
Lamjarred is one of the Arab world's biggest stars.
In 2015, the former Super Star contestant released his first big hit “Lma3llem," which >became the most viewed Arabic music video on YouTube.
He’s garnered nearly 3 million followers on Facebook and half a million on Twitter.
