Months ago, we were all anticipating the release of the second season of Rami Malek 's hit TV series, " Mr. Robot ." Now that it's finally here, in the middle of its second season, USA Network's drama series has announced plans for renewal for a third season set to air in 2017.
The show was nominated for a whopping six Emmys at the 2016 awards ceremony. It also won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
Egyptian-American actor Rami Malek earned a nomination for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama award, going up against Kevin Spacey and a few other top-notch actors.
Although the series' viewership in its first season was high, the numbers have since declined, according to The Verge .
However, from a ratings standpoint the show remains a modest performer with its most recent episode on Aug 10 attracting 572,000 total viewers in live-plus-same-day ratings, according to Variety .
“We couldn’t be more proud of Mr. Robot, a series that has pushed boundaries, captured the cultural zeitgeist, and been honored as one of the best dramas on television,” said Chris McCumber, President of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, according to Deadline .
Although the numbers have decreased, the network's decision to move forward is not going to change. Thankfully.
