There might be a lot of news about cybersecurity, but it seems as if the concept is not been sinking in with United Arab Emirates residents, according to a new study.
Despite frequent warnings, 24 percent of residents did not think that their online passwords were valuable to cyber criminals, according to a survey conducted by cyber security firm Kaspersky Lab and market research agency B2B International. Online security does not seem to be catching on in the UAE.
Although some users (20 percent) use separate passwords for each account they have, many report (22 percent) sharing passwords with friends and family.
As for storing passwords, 18 percent write them down in notebooks, 11 percent store them on a file on a device and a very trusting 6 percent leave them on a sticker near their computers. Only 5 percent use special password storage software.
UAE residents, it's time to step up your password game.
