A 'conflict' restaurant in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania is breaking down barriers, one meal at a time.

According to its website, Conflict Kitchen exists to produce food from various different countries, which are in conflict with the United States. Some of these countries include Palestine, Iran, Afghanistan and North Korea.

This take-out restaurant is not only interested in serving people food but also wants to highlight the culture and politics of the countries that it focuses on.

As part of its winter menu, Conflict Kitchen serves dishes from the Haudenosaunee confederacy and is now shifting towards Palestinian foods.

In its upcoming conflict menu on Palestine the restaurant will include dishes such as hummus, falafel, fatoush and shawarma.

Although Conflict Kitchen has already served Palestinian foods before, it chose to recreate past favorites from its Palestine project.

"Each Conflict Kitchen iteration is augmented by events, performances, publications, and discussions that seek to expand the engagement the public has with the culture, politics, and issues at stake within the focus," the Conflict Kitchen website says.

Apart from serving food that spark conversations, Conflict Kitchen also holds multiple interesting events and workshops that aim to raise awareness on nations the U.S. is currently in conflict with, which range from war to economic sanctions.

A few of these events include informal discussions over dinner, completely handing over its Instagram account to a guest Instagrammer from a featured country, holding workshops concerning specific foods and lunches with guests from conflict countries, and learning from locals.
