With the plans for a new TV show, MBC is monopolizing the musical-talent reality TV program market in the region.
The latest addition to the network's growing portfolio will be The Voice Kids, joining the already successful "The Voice Ahla Sawt," "Arab Idol," "Arabs Got Talent" and most recently, " The X Factor ." "The Voice Kids" is accepting applicants between 7 and 14 who want to sing their little hearts out for a chance at being the next Mohammad Assaf, Nancy Ajram, George Wassouf or Haifa Wehbe .
Okay, maybe not Haifa.
The original The Voice Kids launched in the Netherlands in 2012 and has since been franchised into some 30 local markets worldwide. Moroccan Ayoub Maach won the Dutch version at the age of 13 last year.
Will this "child" production be as successful as its parent program? It would seem that MBC recognizes the current popularity of the musical reality competition format and sees an opportunity to expand its empire further.
Of course, we all want to know who the celebrity judges will be. Can we give our suggestions?
The program's release date has yet to be announced but it will debut on MBC 4 and MBC Masr. Look for it to start sometime later this year.
