In what seems like an expert skydiver's worst nightmare, Christopher Jones suffered an epileptic seizure while free-falling at 2,743 meters in Western Australia.
Unable to pull the parachute cord, Jones, age 22, continued to free-fall when his instructor Sheldon MacFarlane was able to catch up to Jones and pull his parachute cord. In this BBC interview, instructor MacFarlane admits that he pulled Jones' cord higher than what is typically necessary (4,000 feet) but he wanted to give Jones some time to "sort himself out." Jones came to at 3,000 feet.
According to YouTube description, the video was filmed on Nov. 14, 2014, but only recently went viral thanks to a Reddit post .
For skydive novices who might be interested in the sport, it is important to note that generally your first jumps are with an instructor so the risk of this happening is fairly low.
