The Suez Canal is in the process of randomly selecting attendees from the Egyptian public for the opening ceremony of the New Suez Canal, according to Ahram Online.
The head of Memac Ogilvy, the main partner in the WPP multinational alliance, Tarek Lasheen, stated that the attendees will be chosen from a number of Egyptian citizens who applied to take part of the historic inauguration of the New Suez Canal.
Lasheen also stated that the application, which can be found on the New Suez Canal's website, is open to all Egyptian governorates. In an official statement made on the official Facebook page, the Suez Canal Authority added that the application was accessible to all Egyptian citizens.
On Sunday however, the official website of the New Suez Canal stated that it cannot accept further applications due to the "massive turnout." They said that lottery winners would be contacted by either email or phone.
Lasheen did not elaborate on the number of Egyptian citizens who will be given the opportunity to partake in the ceremony, which will be attended by International leaders from around the world.
