Lebanese expats share 'what they miss most' in a tear-jerking commercial

Some reports state that nearly 700,000 Lebanese expatriates are heading to Lebanon for the holiday season, and we can see why. 

Lebanon may have some of the worst infrastructural issues in the world (the 1 year + long trash crisis being just the cherry on the cake) but when you leave it, you start to ache for the little things Lebanon has that no other country could compare to. It may sound like we're waxing lyrical, but it's true! 

This is shown most clearly in the Syndicate of Owners of Restaurants in Lebanon's video, where they asked Lebanese living abroad what they miss most about Lebanon. 

The video includes Lebanese from the USA, UAE, France, Germany, Ireland and others. But it doesn't matter where you live, if you're from Lebanon there's one thing on your mind...

When asked, "what do you miss most about Lebanon?", food was a winner among the Lebanese abroad. 

Every person interviewed had some food that they missed. Kibbe nayye, tawouk, shawarma, knefe, zaatar, lahme bi ajin and of course, mom's home-cooking. 

But they weren't simply listing food. It was an expression of a seriously deep craving. Food is a huge part of our lifestyle. 

The Lebanese turn ambience into an art form. That's why this is the second thing people miss most. 

They miss the nightlife, the ability to party no matter where you are, and call our nightlife one of the best in the world, which it truly is!

But they also miss things very specific to Lebanon, like a "a'ade" which translated means a sit down with friends, in a cafe or restaurant, or having a beer by the side of the beach. 

Toward the end, we see our characters get choked up as they consider returning to Lebanon.
