Kuwait announced it will deport 18 expats after a video posted online of a street brawl went viral, Gulf News reported Monday.
According to Kuwait's Al Rai daily, the salesmen - who were of Egyptian and Syrian nationalities - were involved in a fight inside a shop that sold plastic materials. The fightwas in the Shuwaikh industrial area.
The video, shot by an onlooker, shows men wielding broomsticks on the street and shouting.
“The security department in the Capital Governorate was able to arrest those implicated in the fight in a record time,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement. “All the detainees were referred to the competent authorities to take the legal measures against them.”
Kuwait has recently been following a strict zero tolerance policy when it comes to foreigners disrupting the public order in public places like shopping malls and streets. Last October, the Gulf country deported seven GCC nationals after being involved in a fight at The Avenues, a shopping mall, during Eid.
