In a bid to support the Arab region’s promising indie music scene, Amman’s King Hussein Business Park will play host to one of this year’s highly anticipated creative events, Disrupt!/Music!/, from March 24 to 26.
Hosted by Mideast Creatives and local startups Feesheh for Music, Belbaleh and Indiepush – the event, set to take place at ZINC (Zain Innovation Campus), will bring together local and international speakers, trainers and entrepreneurs from the music and creative scene in a collaborative effort to share knowledge and expertise with selected participants during a 3-day professional workshop.
“Disrupt!/Music!/ is all about music and giving life to creative and disruptive ideas through the provision of a unique blend of technical and financial instruments, which will help local and regional artists take their projects to the next level,” organizers told StepFeed.
“The first day is relaxed and is intended to serve as an introductory icebreaker … but once that’s over and done with, the game is on.”
Approximately 20 teams will be mentored over the course of the remaining days to enhance music business models and project ideas through specialized presentations.
The workshop – focused on transforming ideas into business models – will host representatives from renowned regional creative hubs including Oasis500, Heroic Records, Vinelabs and Jobedu who will pass down business model canvas drills, music industry workshops, and music marketing tips to participants. One-on-one mentoring sessions courtesy of the region's best entrepreneurs will also be provided.
By the end of the 3-day workshop, teams working alongside mentors and industry professionals will be asked to submit their ideas and an independent jury will select the winners. Prizes include 6,000 euros in cash and Zoomaal credits for crowdfundable projects worth $1,000.
Disrupt!/Music!/ is part of a training series created and supported by HIVOS Mideast Creatives. Disrupt events are held throughout the Middle East and provide training and financial support for participants who are implementing projects or businesses within the creative industry sectors, including music, design, animation, publishing, film or media.
