Later this week, Jeddah is set to host screenings of international family oriented films, Arab News reported.
Organized by the Saudi-Arab Society for Culture and Art (SASCA) and set to be held at their Jeddah headquarters, the upcoming shows come as part of two five-day screening events scheduled for July.
The first is set to begin on the 7th of July, while the second is slated for the 29th.
The films selected for screening as part of the event's first phase which begins on Friday include Dreamwork's productionTrolls, and the 2015 release, Robo-Dog.
The screenings come amid ongoing speculations that the kingdom might soon be >ending its cinema ban.
The Saudi Arabian Society of Culture & Arts
The Saudi-Arab Society for Culture and Art is said to be "working within Vision 2030 to develop art and culture in the Kingdom."
Through launching important workshops and training sessions, the organization is also focused on training and supporting artists in Saudi Arabia.
In recent months, they've launched acting, painting and photography workshops among many others.
The rise of entertainment in the kingdom under Vision 2030
In recent months, the entertainment industry has been making strides.
Improvements in the sector come as part of the Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, an initiative focused on diversifying the country's economy.
Under it, the kingdom established the General Authority for Entertainment in 2016.
Headed by Amr al-Madani, the authority aims to enhance the cultural and entertainment sector within the country.
In early January, Al Madani revealed that the >ban on cinemas may soon be lifted, with theaters expected to open soon.
In addition to improvements in film, Saudi Arabia is also making leaps when it comes to music and online entertainment.
The country held its >first concerts in 25 and 7 years, in Jeddah and Riyadh respectively - and hosted its first ever> Comic Con.
In March, the kingdom also organized its first >YouTube FanFest, an event that brought together YouTubers from around the world.
