On Monday, the lawyer of Palestinian teen activist >Ahed Tamimi filed a complaint with the Israeli general attorney accusing an Israeli interrogator of sexually harassing the 17-year-old.

Gaby Lasky, the activist's lawyer, described the incident as a "gross violation of the law," the Middle East Eye reported.

According to the complaint, the interrogator, who is an officer in the military intelligence unit Aman, had questioned Tamimi in an "inappropriate manner."

The officer also threatened to arrest Tamimi's relatives and interrogate them too if she did not speak up during questioning.

"This proves that the [Israeli] law enforcement system infringes upon the rights of Palestinian minors," the complaint stated.

Tamimi's lawyer had previously filed a complaint with regards to the vile treatment of Tamimi, however, there was no official investigation into the matter.

Furthermore, according to media reports, an Israeli army spokesman said they began investigating the latest matter.

"You have eyes like an angel," one interrogator told Tamimi in leaked video footage

On Sunday, video footage of Tamimi's third interrogation - which took place on December 26 - was leaked to The Daily Beast.

According to the publication, Tamimi insisted to remain silent as two male interrogators attempted to get her to speak up.

"You have eyes like an angel," one interrogator told Tamimi in Arabic.

Throughout the ordeal, Tamimi continuously asserted her right to remain silent.

At some point, the interrogator "theatrically throws his notepad and removes his gun, telling Ahed that it isn’t an interrogation and pleading with her to chat with him. Ahed says nothing," according to The Daily Beast.

Who is Ahed Tamimi?

On December 19, 2017, then-16-year-old Ahed Tamimi was arrested in a raid on her family's home in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh.

Her arrest came after a video of her slapping and kicking two Israeli soldiers who had forced their way into her family's yard went viral.

The tension happened soon after her 15-year-old cousin, Mohammad Tamimi, was shot in the face with a rubber bullet. Luckily, Mohammad survived the shooting after severe internal bleeding and a 72-hour medically induced coma.

Ever since the widely-reported incident, Tamimi has been on trial at an Israeli military court in the West Bank.

She has been indicted on 12 charges, including incitement to violence and assaulting Israeli security forces.

In March, the IDF West Bank prosecution and Tamimi's lawyers reached a plea deal. She is currently serving an eight-month sentence in Ofer military prison.

Despite the international pressure and widespread criticism against Israel, prosecutions of minors >like Tamimi and numerous other similar cases continue.

More than 300 Palestinian minors are currently in Israeli jails, 60 percent of whom face physical and psychological torture, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club (PPC).
