We have an uncontrollable dependency on media in everything we do in our lives including our jobs, our personal lives, and our education. Recently, I went unplugged for 24 hours. Although it wasn't easy, considering my job requires me to be connected all the time, I recommend each and every one of you try this! Just to give you a heads up, this is what it felt like going media-free for 24 hours:

First, you realize how nomophobic you really are

No-Mobile-Phobia

And you start feeling like an outsider...

Because everyone around you is connected to a second world except you

Which leads to increased anxiety levels

In fact, a 2013 research study  focusing on technology dependency resulted in: 44% of the participants born in the 90s felt either highly or moderately anxious at not being able to check their text messages, 23% felt anxious at not being able to check their social networks, 24% for phone calls and 19% for emails.

Making you more frustrated than ever

Because you start realizing how much you depend on your phone

Wishing you chose to go unplugged another day because there is a photo you need to snap right now & share it with a friend

Or get their opinion on something because your life depends on it

That's when you start feeling disconnected from the world

Because to feel connected you think you have to be connected

But, after some time you get a sense of relief

Because for the first time, your day goes exactly as planned because there are no interruptions

Which makes you feel so relaxed

And super productive

Finishing your chores like a boss

And reading ... reading ... and reading some more

Even picking up new habits or getting back to old ones

And that's when you realize how much time you've wasted being on your phone

But, that doesn't mean I want to be unplugged all the time

But, I do think every once in a while, it's awesome

Now it's your turn to unplug and see how addicted you really are
