Lebanese star Hiba Tawaji will be performing in her first musical in five years at this summer's Tannourine Festival.
The famous singer, who drew international attention last year when she competed on "The Voice France," posted the exciting news on her Facebook page. The musical play will be "Moulouk El Tawaef" by the legendary Mansour Rahbani – one of the well-known Rahbani Brothers.
Tawaji's last musical stage performance was also in a Rahbani production, "Don Quixote," which was in 2011. Previous to that, she starred in "Moulouk El Tawaef" in Qatar in 2010. The singer expressed enthusiasm in her Facebook post for returning to the stage and for working once again on a Rahbani production.
While the singer and actress has enjoyed fame within Lebanon and regionally for some time, she drew international attention after participating in The Voice France. Many Lebanese fans were excited to see her wowing the show's judges and audience, however others were critical, saying that performing on a French reality show was beneath the star, as she was already famous throughout the Arab world.
Although Tawaji didn't win The Voice France, she definitely impressed the audience and judges, attracting more international fans and building her fame back home as well. Certainly, just as Tawaji is excited to return to the stage in her home country, her Lebanese fans will be excited to see her perform as well.
"Moulouk El Tawaef" will run from Aug. 19 to 21. Tickets can be purchased via TicketingBoxOffice.com and start at 45,000 LL ($30).
