We all know how difficult it is for Arabs to go into the arts and not have to explain the reason they chose that specific field to every single person they encounter in their lives.

Historically, it wasn't something quite common in the region. However, with time that is slowly changing.

A group of young Palestinian actors now needs your help.

Having graduated from the Drama Academy in Ramallah in partnership with Folkwand University in Germany, after three years of intensive training, Kark'a Ensemble is now looking to take its next step.

The group has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help them achieve what they've been working for all these years. The funds will be used mainly for logistics, including a training hall for rehearsals and production, accommodation for the actors, set and costumes and more .

"Considering the fact that the Palestinian Authority does not have the ability to support a growing theater movement, it is difficult to build momentum in our field of work. The role of supporting theater in our community has been left to non governmental organizations or bodies, and we find this to be consistently problematic," the group says on their crowdfunding page .

The group does not see non-governmental bodies taking control of theater as a good solution. This has happened and the needs of the community on the ground have never been addressed.

Kark'a Ensemble wants to produce content that is catered specifically to the community.

"We believe that raising the funds for this project relying solely on the support of large numbers of individuals would be a beautifully strong message of hope to our community, and would be greatly in line with our vision and philosophy."

Help support Palestine's theater!
