A group of ambitious entrepreneurs has launched a Zoomaal campaign to host a conference in Sidon for young entrepreneurs.

Often young people have innovative ideas but lack the means to take their unique concept and make it a reality. Of course, throughout the Middle East, numerous conferences and start-up incubators are working to change this. Now a team of young people in Sidon wants to join the trend, providing opportunities for the young and business savvy in the town.

The team behind the new Zoomaal campaign, the Sidon Challenge Team, previously won funding from the British Council and Hivos. Emboldened by their success, they decided to share the love by creating a conference to benefit others like themselves.

The team's initiative, " Saida Entrepreneur Conference 2015," aims to "provide opportunities for more than 50 projects of entrepreneurs to challenge, compete, and work on developing and planning, by using and benefiting from the instructions, technical and logistic services that are needed to succeed and provided by a group of distinguished consultants and specialists in administrative, planning, and financial fields," according to the crowdfunding page.

In addition to providing individuals with opportunities, the initiative hopes to move the local economy forward by combating youth unemployment through entrepreneurship and by engaging different economic sectors. Students, local organizations, production companies and traditional businesses will all benefit from the conference.

The team has set four levels of funding goals: $5,000, $7,000, $10,000 and $20,000. Based on the funding received, the conference will last between three and four days and offer a different range of services to participants.

At the time of publication, the campaign has garnered just over $6,000 with 9 days left in the campaign.
