Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi is set to perform at the Concerto di Natale in Vatican city in celebration of Christmas.

The concert - which will take place on Saturday - redefines coexistence as the Muslim singer will join a number of artists in the heart of the Roman Catholic Church.

Al Jassmi will become the first Arab artist to perform at the annual Christmas concert.

"With tolerance and peaceful co-existence, we, leaders and citizens, honor Zayed's vision. My approach is to embark on promoting interfaith and affinity among people," the singer wrote in a tweet announcing the news.

"I am honored to meet the Vatican's invitation to be the first Arab artist to participate in the annual Christmas charity event," he added.

The proceeds from the event will go to refugees in Erbil, Iraq, and Uganda via Scholas Occurrentes, a charitable foundation founded by Pope Francis.

"The Vatican Christmas concert has been held annually since 1993"

Al Jassmi - former judge of X Factor Arabia - is pretty established in the UAE and Arab world.

As the UAE's UN Goodwill Ambassador, Ambassador of Creativity, and Ambassador for Arab Culture, Al Jassmi has carved a name for himself over the years.

In 2016, the singer became the first Arab to take the stage at the Dubai Opera.

"This will be beautiful"

The UAE is serious about religious coexistence

Home to expats representing some 200 countries, the UAE puts tolerance and coexistence at its core, becoming the first country to establish a ministry for tolerance in 2016.

That year, Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi was appointed as the UAE's Minister of State for Tolerance. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the armed forces, visited Pope Francis at the Vatican in 2016.

This came after Sheikh Mohammed >invited the pope to the UAE.
